Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to perform the stochastic finite element analysis of dam-reservoir-foundation systems subjected to earthquake forces. To this aim, the Sarıyar concrete gravity dam is selected for application. Analytical model of the dam-reservoir-foundation interaction system is set up using the finite element method. Th ePacoima Dam record S16E component recorded during the San Fernando Earthquake in 1971 is used as ground motion. The deterministic dynamic analysis of the dam-reservoir-foundationsystem is also performed to compare the results of the stochastic dynamic analysis.
